How we get these prices

  • Company websites. We read the prices 44 companies publish on their own sites.
  • Customer reviews. Prices customers say they paid, kept only when the review names the item, the amount and the period.
  • No outliers, no paid prices. We drop far-out prices and show the middle 80%. Companies cannot pay to change a price.
  • Checked again and again. Every page shows when its prices were last checked.

Price factors

What changes the price

Ask about each of these when you compare quotes.

What is included in a weekly price?

Most weekly prices include delivery, pickup and one cleaning a week. Extra cleanings, damage waivers and fuel fees are often extra, so ask when you compare quotes.

Do I need a permit for a porta potty?

Not for a unit on your own property. Events on streets, parks or other public land usually need a special event permit from the city, and the permit asks how many restrooms you will have. Rules change, so check with your city.

    Questions

Porta potty rental cost: common questions

What is included in a weekly price?

Most weekly prices include delivery, pickup and one cleaning a week. Extra cleanings, damage waivers and fuel fees are often extra, so ask when you compare quotes.

How many porta potties do I need for my event?

Plan on 1 unit per 50 guests for an event of up to 4 hours. Add about an eighth more for every extra hour, and a fifth more if you serve alcohol. Include at least one ADA unit for public events. The calculator does the math.

How many units does OSHA require on a jobsite?

The federal rule (29 CFR 1926.51) asks for at least 1 toilet for up to 20 workers, and 1 toilet plus 1 urinal per 40 workers above that. A standard unit has both. Many crews order 1 unit per 10 workers so units stay usable between weekly cleanings.
